Carolyn Maloney is an American politician who currently serves as the representative of the 12th congressional district of New York. After graduating from the ‘Greensboro College’ in North Carolina, she moved to New York City in the early 1970s and worked there as a teacher for many years. She also worked at the ‘New York City Board of Education.’ She served in senior positions in the ‘State Senate’ and the ‘State Assembly.’ Thus, she slowly began making progress in local politics. In 1993, she won the elections and entered the ‘U.S. Congress’ as the representative of the 14th District of New York. She won all subsequent elections, and in 2013, she contested from the 12th district and won again. She is one of the most popular political leaders in New York and has worked extensively for women’s rights issues, the U.S. economy, and healthcare. In 2004, she presented the bipartisan security reforms bill in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. She has worked with the families affected by the attacks, to get them back on their feet. She is also the incumbent chairman of the ‘House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.’
