Matteo Renzi is the current Prime minister of Italy; he is in the office since February, 2014. He was elected as the prime minister at the age of 39 years and 42 days and this has made him the country’s youngest prime minister since its unification in 1861. Born and brought up in Tuscany region of central Italy, he was elected to the post of the Mayor of Florence before he reached the age of thirty. Since then he has undertaken many reforms and earned the nickname of ‘il Rottamatore’. In fact, Renzi sees himself as a reformist and believes that situation of the country can never improve unless certain reforms are taken. Consequently, on becoming Prime Minister, his first goal was to reform labor policies. He then went on to bring about public reform, administrative reform, tax reform and constitutional reform in quick succession. At the same time, he is an avid football fan and a big supporter of ACF Florentina, the football club from his hometown Florence.
