Melanie Clare Sophie Giedroyc is an English television presenter, comedian and who rose to fame as presenter of the show ‘The Great British Bake Off’. She is also the one half of ‘Mel and Sue’, a longstanding collaborative comedic duo. Her partner is the comedian Sue Perkins, and they have together worked for over three decades. The duo met each other at College at Cambridge University and formed ‘Mel and Sue’, a collaboration that resulted in many critically applauded projects. They began with ‘The Naked Lunch’ and later presented their show ‘Planet Pussycat’ at the Edinburgh Festival. When the partnership took off, they embarked on several hit series such as ‘French & Saunders’ and ‘Light Lunch’. Their call to fame came when they were asked to host the baking competition series ‘The Great British Bake Off’. The widely-watched show ran for over six series before they decided to step down as the hosts when the network shifted. The duo would later become the presenters of the shows ‘Let's Sing and Dance’ and ‘The Generation Game’. Apart from being a part of this duo, Mel is also frequently seen in other panel shows, hosts a podcast, reads audiobooks, and is the author of two books. She currently lives in London with her husband.
