Rosetta Jacobs, better known by her screen name Piper Laurie, was an American actress who rose to fame after starring in the movie ‘Louisa’ opposite Ronald Regan. She started her movie career at the age of 17 after signing a contract with Universal Studios in 1950. Despite steady movie releases, Laurie was unhappy with the roles she was receiving and briefly switched to stage and TV work. She was subsequently seen in the productions of ‘Twelfth Night’ and ‘Winterset’. At the same time, she continued making frequent TV appearances and played her memorable role as Anne Mueller in the mini-series ‘The Thorn Birds’. She made her big screen comeback with the hits ‘Hustler’ and ‘Carrie’. Apart from her role in ‘Hustler’, she is remembered for her performance as Catherine Martell in the David Lynch series ‘Twin Peaks’, which earned her a Golden Globe Award. Considered one of the most celebrated actors in Hollywood, she went on to appear in the reprisal of ‘Twin Peaks’ and the movies, ‘Hesher’ and ‘White Boy Rick’.
