Matt Bevin is the current and the 62nd Governor of Kentucky. He assumed office after winning the gubernatorial elections of 2015. With that he became the third ever Republican governor of Kentucky after the Second World War. Bevin is not only a politician but also a successful businessman and an army veteran. With a career as exposed and diverse as his, he chose to challenge Senator, Mitch McConnell in the 2014 Republican Primary Senate Elections. The battle between the two sparked off numerous controversies but Matt was defeated by Mitch eventually. He announced a year later that he would run for governor in the general election of 2015. He won the primary round with only 83 additional votes, and went on to win over Jack Conway in the general elections. Throughout his political career, he has advocated for low taxes, smaller government, sustainable energy and stands in the way of same-sex marriages and abortion. Bevin believes that the fate of the natives rests in the system of education and disagrees with the “Common Core” program. He became the backbone of Bevin Brothers Company, after rescuing and making a fortune out of it. He embodies the true spirit of an American civilian in all sectors of his life, from family to career.
