Julia Carin Cavazos is an American Grammy Award-nominated singer and songwriter. She is more popular by her stage name Julia Michaels. A native of Iowa, she started singing when she was twelve years old. Two years later, she met songwriter Joleen Belle, with whom she established a lasting professional relationship. At the age of nineteen, she became acquainted with Lindy Robbins, with whom she collaborated on songs that would later be sung by the likes of Demi Lovato and Fifth Harmony. Michaels also has worked with Justin Tranter, who eventually became her writing partner. She released her self-titled debut Extended Play in 2010, and has since put out two more EPs, including the latest ‘Nervous System’, which was released through Republic Records in 2017. Besides receiving two Grammy nominations, she was also nominated for MTV Music Video, Billboard Music, and American Music Awards. An accomplished songwriter, she has co-written songs for illustrious artists like Nicole Scherzinger and Selena Gomez.
