Peter Ostrum, born as Peter Gardner Ostrum, is an American former child actor and currently a veterinarian. His only movie role was as Charlie Bucket in the musical fantasy film ‘Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory’. Though he enjoyed shooting for the flick, he opted not to act further. After giving up acting, he became reluctant to even talk about his one starring role. Ostrum, who later started an annual tradition of speaking to school kids about his film, became a subject of interest once again when the flick ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ was released in 2005. He became interested in horses during the filming of Willy Wonka and decided to work with animals in future. He later attended the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine to receive his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine following which he practiced as a veterinarian. He now enjoys a successful career as a veterinarian. He lives with his wife, a son, and a daughter in Lowville, New York.
