Kim Ji-young, well-known by her stage name Han Chae-young, is a South Korean actress, who is not only popular in her homeland, but has also thrived in the mainland Chinese market by expanding her career beyond the national borders. Han forayed into acting with the horror film ‘The Record’ in 2000. This was followed by TV melodrama, ‘Autumn in My Heart’. Tagged as "Barbie Doll of Korea" by the media, Han got an opportunity to work in several commercials and eventually got offers to work in films and TV dramas. Initially, her typecast roles and inexperienced acting skills drew criticism. Her breakthrough came in 2005, with the titular role for the TV series ‘Delightful Girl Choon-Hyang’. Following this, she performed in several other notable small and big screen productions in her homeland which include films like ‘Wild Card’, ‘Good Morning President’, ‘The Star Next Door’ and TV series like ‘Only You’ and ‘Pretty Man’. She also expanded her career by making a mark in the mainland Chinese market with films like ‘A Big Deal’, ‘The Guest’ and TV dramas like ‘Dream in Blue’ and ‘The Rebirth of a Celebrity Superstar’.
