Farrah Leni Fawcett was an American actress, model, and artist best known for her role in the television series Charlie’s Angels. Over the course of her career, she was nominated for four Emmy Awards and six Golden Globe Awards. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, she began her career appearing in commercials and later made guest appearances in TV shows such as I Dream of Jeannie and The Flying Nun. She made her film debut with a supporting role in the French-American film Love Is a Funny Thing. Fawcett became internationally known for her iconic red swimsuit poster, which became the best-selling pin-up poster of all time. Over the years, she appeared in several other popular TV series and films, further cementing her status as a sex symbol in Hollywood. Her portrayal of private detective Jill Munroe in the crime drama series Charlie’s Angels was widely appreciated. The series followed the adventures of three women working for a private detective agency in Los Angeles. Beyond glamorous roles, she was also recognized for her dramatic performances, notably as a battered wife in the TV movie The Burning Bed, which earned her critical acclaim. She was ranked number 26 on TV Guide’s 50 Greatest TV Stars of All Time. Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer at the age of 59 and passed away three years later, in 2009.
