He is credited with introducing various classical poetic forms, such as the sonnet, the eclogue, the elegy, and the ottava rima, to Portugal and other Portuguese-speaking regions. In addition to poems, Francisco de Sá de Miranda also wrote a couple of theatrical comedies.
