LaWanda Page was an American actress and comedian who is best known for playing the role of 'Aunt Esther' Anderson on NBC's sitcom 'Sanford and Son'. She appeared on the popular series throughout its six-season-long run alongside her childhood friend Redd Foxx, who portrayed the lead character, Fred G. Sanford. She initially began working as a showgirl at a nightclub called 'Collins Corner' when she was 15. There, she earned the nickname 'The Bronze Goddess of Fire' for her special acts involving fire. She later made a name for herself as a raunchy comedienne at the St. Louis and Los Angeles club scenes. She also produced several live comedy albums, most popular of which was 'Watch It, Sucker!' She continued to work in numerous television series and films throughout her decades-long career until her death at the age of 81.
