Oliver Burgess Meredith was a prominent American actor. A multitalented personality, he also wrote, directed, and produced a few scripts in his almost seven-decade-long career. He was nominated at the Academy Awards in two consecutive years for his work in the films ‘The Day of the Locust’ and ‘Rocky’. Although interested in acting from a young age, he initially worked as a reported and served in the military for a while before eventually pursuing his true passion. Once he ventured into acting, it did not take the talented young man long to taste success. He eventually became the first ever male actor in the history of the show business to win the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor twice. While Burgess Meredith established himself as a leading man in the 1940s, he continued to portray critically acclaimed roles in films like ‘Magic’ and ‘Clash of the Titans’ even in in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Also active in the theater scene, he was featured in several Broadway shows including ‘Romeo and Juliet.’ Burgess Meredith was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6904 Hollywood Boulevard.
