Robert Mills

South Carolina architect Robert Mills is considered to be the first native-born American to be professionally trained as an architect. A Neoclassical architect, Mills is known for using classical forms with originality. His best-known structures include Treasury and the Old Patent Office. Built in the US, the World War II Liberty Ship SS Robert Mills was named in his honour.
