Properzia de' Rossi was an Italian sculptor whose works, especially her marble portrait busts, gained her popularity. De' Rossi was also a controversial figure; her life has generally been described as tumultuous and she was also accused of vandalism of a garden and assault of another sculptor named Amico Aspertini.
