Mike Rowe is an American television host and narrator, best known for his work in the ‘Dirty Jobs’ series of the Discovery Channel and ‘Somebody’s Gotta Do It’ series on CNN. Born into a family of teachers, he had a unique upbringing, away from “amusement parks or must-see events”. He didn’t miss such things and felt sorry for those friends “who had to endure them” or “had no older cousins to provide them with a superior wardrobe of softer, studier, broken-in alternatives”. At the age of twenty-two, he began his career with Baltimore Opera, eventually taking numerous freelance jobs, which gave him enough time to loaf around. At the age of forty-one, a miscalculation landed him with ‘Dirty Jobs’, his first full time job. Busy with his career, he continues to take up unusual assignments like testing out a shark suit by getting in the water with three reef sharks for Discovery Channel and being shaken like “a tug-toy” by them.
