American football quarterback Baker Mayfield currently plays for the National Football League (NFL) team Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After battling financial difficulties in his childhood, he started his stint as a footballer in high school. He grew up to play college football for Texas Tech and the University of Oklahoma. While switching from Texas Tech to the University of Oklahoma in 2014, however, he lost a year due to eligibility regulations and Big 12 transfer rules. At Oklahoma, he became the first walk-on player to earn the prestigious Heisman Trophy. In the 2018 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Cleveland Browns. With the Browns, Mayfield set a new record for touchdown passes by a rookie. He had his most successful season with the team in 2020. He later played for the Carolina Panthers, the Los Angeles Rams, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is married to Instagram influencer Emily Wilkinson.
