Martin Seligman is an American psychologist, educator, researcher, and author of several self-help books. Often regarded as the ''father of modern positive psychology,'' he is a leading researcher of positive psychology, resilience, learned helplessness, depression, optimism, and pessimism. Seligman supports theories of positive psychology and well-being, the most popular of which is the theory of learned helplessness. His works in the field focus majorly on prevention from depression. Seligman currently serves as the director of the 'Penn Positive Psychology Center' and is the 'Zellerbach Family Professor of Psychology.' He is the author of more than 250 scholarly publications and 20 books. His works have been translated into over 20 languages. Seligman has always strived toward making the world a happier place.
