Kerry Von Erich

Kerry Von Erich was the ring name of American professional wrestler Kerry Gene Adkisson. He was also known by the names ‘The Modern Day Warrior,’ and ‘The Texas Tornado.’ Born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York, he was the fourth son of the Von Erich wrestling family. He surpassed his father’s ‘Junior World Discus Throw record,’ but later turned to family profession. He had won 40 championships in different promotions. He was the winner of the ‘WWF Intercontinental Championship’ and ‘NWA World Championship’ as well as four times ‘WCWA World Heavyweight Championship.’ The high-point of his career was winning the ‘NWA World Heavyweight Championship’ (1984). His signature wresting moves were known as ‘Discus Punch’ or ‘Tornado Punch.’ He was also known for the Von Erich family’s ‘The Iron Claw.’ He had won several Tag-Team titles with ‘NWA Texas’ and the ‘World Class Championship Wrestling’ branches. In 1986, he lost a foot in a motorcycle accident, but continued wrestling using a prosthetic foot. However, he got addicted to the painkillers, and was arrested twice. Kerry shot himself through heart on his father’s ranch in Texas. He is survived by two daughters and ex-wife.
