Grammy Award winner, Scott Weiland was an iconic American singer, songwriter, and musician best known for being the charismatic lead singer of popular mainstream rock groups like ‘Stone Temple Pilots’ and ‘Velvet Revolver’ besides ‘Art of Anarchy’. In a career that spanned more than three decades, he also achieved major success as a solo artist, releasing two cover albums, three studio albums, and successfully collaborating with other musicians. Towards the end of his career, he formed his own band, ‘Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts’, which, however, received mixed reviews. Weiland is also remembered for his chaotic and flamboyant onstage persona that was disparaged by critics during his early career. Not only would he constantly change his appearance but also indulge in onstage antics like using a megaphone for vocal effect in concert. With a personality akin to Jim Morrison and David Bowie, Weiland projected a virtually androgynous charisma suggestive of menace and decadence. His legacy as a talented and versatile musician was, however, marred greatly by recurrent personal and legal problems revolving around substance abuse, for which he had to also spend five months in jail and which, ultimately cut short his career and life.
