Nehanda Charwe Nyakasikana, also known as Mbuya Nehanda, was a revered svikiro and spirit medium of the Zezuru Shona people. She played a significant role as a spiritual leader in the Chimurenga revolt against British colonization in Zimbabwe. Known as a medium of the powerful ancestral spirit Nehanda, she led resistance efforts alongside Sekuru Kaguvi. Despite facing capture and execution by the British South Africa Company, her legacy of resistance and leadership lived on through various commemorations and continued to inspire nationalist movements in Zimbabwe.
