Edna Maskell, a skilled hurdler, excelled in athletics during the 1950s. She earned a gold medal in the 80 metres hurdles at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games while representing Northern Rhodesia. At the same Games, she also achieved a bronze medal in the 100 yards sprint and finished 10th in the long jump. Prior to this, she showcased her talent on the international stage by competing for South Africa at the 1952 Summer Olympics.
