Ray Reardon

Ray Reardon, a Welsh professional snooker player, was a dominant force in the sport during the 1970s. He won the World Snooker Championship six times and numerous other professional titles. Starting his career as a coal miner and later as a police officer, Reardon turned professional in 1967. He was the first player to be ranked "world number one" when world rankings were introduced and held the position for several years. Reardon retired in 1991 after mentoring younger players and making significant contributions to snooker history.
