Nguyễn Tấn Dũng was a Vietnamese politician who held the position of Prime Minister of Vietnam from 2006 to 2016. Initially confirmed by the National Assembly in June 2006, he was nominated by his predecessor. In January 2011, he reached the rank of 3rd within the hierarchy of the Communist Party of Vietnam. However, following the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, he resigned from his role as Prime Minister in April 2016.
