(Academic, Writer) Tony Martin, a Trinidad and Tobago-born scholar of Africana Studies, taught at Wellesley College from 1973 to 2007. Throughout his career, he authored over ten books and numerous scholarly articles. Martin pursued law studies in the UK before earning a PhD on Marcus Garvey in the US. As a founding member of Wellesley's Africana Studies Department, he specialized in topics such as Garveyism and the involvement of Jews in the Atlantic slave trade.
