Ashford Sinanan

Ashford Sastri Sinanan was a prominent politician from Trinidad and Tobago, known for his significant contributions to the country's political landscape. He played a crucial role in drafting parts of Trinidad's constitution and served as the nation's first High Commissioner to India. Despite narrowly missing out on becoming the first Prime Minister of the Federation of the West Indies in 1958, he continued to make notable contributions to Trinidadian politics. Sinanan later founded the West Indian National Party in 1974 with the aim of challenging the long-standing rule of Prime Minister Eric Williams.
