Tippu Tip, also known as Tippu Tib, was a well-known figure in the ivory and slave trade in Africa. He served different sultans of Zanzibar and briefly ruled the Sultanate of Utetera in Kasongo. Tippu Tip led trading expeditions into Central Africa, where he established profitable trading posts in the Congo Basin region. Known for his involvement in the slave trade, he supplied enslaved Africans to various destinations globally. Furthermore, he traded ivory obtained from local suppliers in Kasongo at coastal ports.
