Celadet Elî Bedirxan, also known as Mîr Celadet, was a prominent Kurdish diplomat, writer, linguist, journalist, and political activist. He earned a master's degree in law from Istanbul University and furthered his studies in Munich. Proficient in Arabic, Kurdish, Russian, German, Turkish, Persian, and French, he made significant contributions to the Kurdish nationalist movement by establishing the Xoybûn committee during a Kurdish conference in Beirut. Celadet is celebrated for his groundbreaking efforts in structuring the grammar of the modern Northern Kurdish language and creating the Latin-based Hawar alphabet, which later became the standard alphabet for Kurmanji and other Kurdish dialects, supplanting previous Arabic-based, Cyrillic-based, Persian-based, and Armenian-based scripts.
