Jacob Safra was a Syrian banker who founded Banco Jacob E. Safra in Beirut in the 1920s. The bank catered to wealthy Sephardic Jewish families in Syria and Lebanon, providing services to agricultural, precious metal, and merchant traders. Safra's legacy continued with the bank's transformation into Banque de crédit national S.A.L. (BCN), becoming one of Lebanon's oldest banks.
