Pope Anicetus

Pope Anicetus served as the bishop of Rome from around 157 until his passing in April 168. Anicetus was known for opposing Gnosticism and Marcionism and played a key role in addressing the Easter controversy by hosting discussions with Polycarp of Smyrna in Rome. Throughout his papacy, Anicetus showed dedication to upholding orthodox Christian teachings and encouraging dialogue on important theological issues within the early Church.
