Odaenathus ascended as the founder king of the Palmyrene Kingdom, elevating it from a regional hub to a powerful state in the Near East. Through strategic alliances with Rome, he showcased his military prowess by defeating the Persians and quelling rebellions. His successful campaigns led to territorial expansion, granting him control over significant regions. Despite maintaining formal ties with the Emperor, Odaenathus ruled independently, consolidating his authority by proclaiming himself "King of Kings" and appointing his son as co-king. His assassination in 267 marked the continuation of his legacy through his widow Zenobia and son Vaballathus.
