Description:
(Sultan of Egypt) Baibars, also known as Al-Malik al-Zahir Rukn al-Din Baybars al-Bunduqdari, was the fourth Mamluk sultan of Egypt and Syria. His strategic leadership was pivotal in defeating the Seventh Crusade led by King Louis IX of France and securing a significant triumph against the Mongol army at the Battle of Ain Jalut. Under his rule, Mamluk dominance in the Eastern Mediterranean flourished, ultimately leading to the eradication of Crusader influence in the Levant and consolidating the union of Egypt and Syria as a formidable Muslim power. Employing a combination of diplomacy and military might, Baibars expanded the Mamluk empire and effectively subdued formidable adversaries such as the Mongols and the kingdom of Makuria.
