Description:
(Christian Saint)
Saints Sergius and Bacchus were fourth-century Syrian Christian soldiers who served as military officers in the army of the Roman Emperor Galerius. They were highly regarded until their Christian faith was discovered, leading to their severe humiliation and punishment. Bacchus died during torture, while Sergius was eventually beheaded. Known for their close friendship and pious relationship, they were revered as martyrs and military saints by the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Oriental Orthodox Churches. Churches were built in their honor in various cities, highlighting their enduring popularity in Late Antiquity.
