Jacob, later named Israel, is regarded as a patriarch in Abrahamic religions. He is a significant figure in Judaism, Samaritanism, Christianity, and Islam. The Book of Genesis portrays Jacob as a clever individual who secured his brother's birthright and blessings through cunning methods. He later relocated to Egypt during a drought, where his son Joseph became powerful. Jacob is known for fathering twelve sons, who went on to establish the Twelve Tribes of Israel.
