Stefan Bengt Edberg is a world famous former Swedish professional tennis player, counted among top professional tennis players of his time. Edberg, who made his mark both as a singles and a doubles player, remains a leading apostle of the serve-and-volley style of tennis. During 1985 to 1996 he achieved great heights that include 6 Grand Slam singles titles encompassing two ‘Australian Open’, two ‘Wimbledon’ and two ‘US Open’; 3 Grand Slam men's doubles titles - two ‘Australian Open’ and one ‘US Open’; and one ‘ATP World Tour Finals’ title. He also won the ‘Grand Prix Tennis Championship Series’ titles and the ‘ATP World Tour Masters 1000’ titles four times each. When tennis was re-introduced in the 1984 Summer Olympics as a demonstration sport, he emerged winner of men’s singles competition. He was part of the Swedish ‘Davis Cup’ winning team 4 times. He remains the sole player to be awarded both ‘Doubles Team of the Year’ and also ‘Player of the Year’ by the ‘ATP World Tour’. He remained in singles top ten list for ten years in a row and in top five for nine years. In 2003 he was inducted in ‘Swedish Tennis Hall of Fame’ and in 2004 in ‘International Tennis Hall of Fame’. In January 2014, he was inducted as coach of one of the most remarkable and famous Swiss professional tennis players Roger Federer.
