Description:
(Sudanese Poet and Warrior)
Mihera Bint Abboud was a celebrated 19th-century Sudanese female poet and warrior known for her resistance to the Turco-Egyptian invasion of Sudan. She played a pivotal role in rallying the Shaigiya people to battle against the invaders, displaying courage and leadership by dressing in men's clothing, mounting her camel, and wielding a sword. Despite the eventual defeat of the Shaigiya, Mihera's legacy as a symbol of resistance has inspired women in anti-colonial politics in Sudan and in more recent protests in the country.
