Queen Anula of Anuradhapura was the first queen regnant in Sri Lankan history and the first documented female head of state in Asia. She gained power through marriage to multiple husbands and consorts, whom she poisoned to establish her rule over the Kingdom of Anuradhapura. Anula's reign was marked by intrigue and betrayal as she manipulated her way to power. Ultimately, her reign was cut short by Kutakanna Tissa, who defeated her in battle and ended her rule by burning her on a funeral pyre.
