José Plácido Domingo Embil is a famous Spanish conductor and tenor who has recorded more than 100 opera performances. He is known as the ‘King of Opera’ and is considered one of the greatest tenors of his time. Plácido Domingo is well-known for his unique style and powerful voice. He has had the opportunity to perform in the most prestigious opera houses across the world in various languages like Italian, English, Russian, Spanish, German and French. Though he began his musical journey alone, later in his career he collaborated with fellow tenors Luciano Pavarotti and José Carreras, and they are collectively called ‘The Three Tenors’. The trio enjoyed much international recognition and success. His performances have earned him many accolades like the Grammy Awards, The Latin Grammy Awards, The United States Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Medal of Honour from Oman to name a few. On the personal front, he is known to be deeply involved in humanitarian activities and has performed many a times for charity events, disaster relief and so on.
