Desiré Wilson is a former racing driver from South Africa, known for being one of the five women to have competed in Formula One. She made her Formula One debut in 1980 but failed to qualify for the Grand Prix. Wilson made history by becoming the only woman to win a Formula One race in the British Aurora F1 Championship. She also participated in other racing disciplines such as CART and sports car racing. Despite attempts to qualify for the Indianapolis 500, she was unsuccessful in 1982, 1983, and 1984.
