(Ice hockey player) Peter Šťastný, also known as "Peter the Great" and "Stosh," is a former professional ice hockey player from Slovakia who later became a Canadian citizen. He played in the NHL from 1980 to 1995 and was one of the top scorers in the 1980s, second only to Wayne Gretzky. Šťastný represented teams such as the Quebec Nordiques, New Jersey Devils, and St. Louis Blues during his NHL career. In addition to his hockey career, he also ventured into politics, serving as a Member of the European Parliament for Slovakia. Šťastný has been honored with inductions into both the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1998 and the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2000. His outstanding contributions to the sport led to his inclusion in the '100 Greatest NHL Players' list in 2017.
