Sultan Sir Abu Bakar Al-Khalil Ibrahim Shah played a key role in Johor's history, initially serving as Temenggong before becoming the state's first modern Sultan. Known as "The Father of Modern Johor," he introduced policies that promoted economic growth and infrastructure development. With his diplomatic abilities, he built strong ties with British and Malay leaders. A keen traveler, he visited Europe and formed a close bond with Queen Victoria. During his 32-year reign, Johor saw notable progress in governance, military, and civil services.
