Paramount Chief Ella Koblo Gulama was a pioneering Sierra Leonean politician celebrated for her remarkable accomplishments. She became the first elected female Member of Parliament in Sierra Leone in 1957 and was re-elected in 1962, making history. Gulama further shattered barriers by becoming the first female Cabinet Minister in Sierra Leone and sub-Saharan Africa under Milton Margai's government. Her impact extended globally as she represented Sierra Leone on numerous diplomatic missions across Africa, Europe, North America, and the Middle East. Notably, she visited the United States and met Vice-President Richard Nixon during her international engagements.
