Ernest Bai Koroma enjoyed a successful 24-year career in the private insurance industry before entering politics in 2002. He held the position of managing director at Reliance Insurance Trust Corporation (Ritcorp) from 1988 to 2002. Koroma later led the All People's Congress (APC) party in Sierra Leone, serving as a Parliament member from 2002 to 2007 and as the minority leader from 2005. He was elected President of Sierra Leone in 2007 and re-elected for a second term in 2012.
