(Writer) Abdoulaye Sadji was a prominent Senegalese writer and educator, known for his novels and short stories that often focus on young girls adapting to urban life. He trained as a teacher at the École Normale William Ponty in Gorée and became one of the first African high-school teachers in Senegal. Sadji also worked as a radio station employee and collaborated with Léopold Sédar Senghor on a reading-book for elementary schools. He is recognized as a pioneering practitioner of the values associated with Négritude.
