Adnan Khashoggi was a Saudi Arabian businessman. He was known for his business capabilities that helped him settle many international business deals. Khashoggi lived a lavish life, surrounded by riches almost his entire life. Born to a doctor father, Khashoggi led a moderately affluent life during his childhood. He showed business acumen right from his school days as he facilitated a deal between the fathers of two of his classmates, and pocketed US $1,000, as his commission. Leaving his education from renowned universities halfway, Khashoggi started several businesses. He was instrumental in facilitating a deal between western companies, and the government of Saudi Arabia, whereby the infrastructure of the country could be improved. He was known prominently for his arms deals. He played a major role in bringing together several US firms and the Saudi government. In the later part of his life, Khashoggi suffered losses, and even faced bankruptcy. He was implicated in the ‘Iran-Contra’ arms deal. He was arrested for his fraudulent dealings. Khashoggi was fond of displaying his lavish lifestyle, even in times of financial crises. He suffered from Parkinson’s disease, and passed away peacefully, at the age of 81.
