(Retired Salvadoran Swimmer) Marcelo Acosta Jiménez had an accomplished career as a Salvadoran swimmer, breaking records and achieving notable successes in various international competitions. He represented El Salvador at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, finishing 22nd in the 1500m freestyle with a new national record time. Acosta also participated in the 2017 World Aquatics Championships, securing 14th place in both the 800m and 1500m freestyle events. After a successful and inspiring career, he announced his retirement from professional swimming in June 2022.
