Vasily Vasilyevich Smyslov, a renowned Soviet and Russian chess grandmaster, achieved great success in the world of chess. He held the title of the seventh World Chess Champion from 1957 to 1958 and was a frequent Candidate for the World Chess Championship. Smyslov was highly decorated in various chess competitions, earning numerous medals and awards, including a record-breaking 17 Chess Olympiad medals. Despite facing challenges such as failing eyesight, he remained active in chess events and puzzle composition until his passing in 2010. In addition to his chess prowess, Smyslov was also known for his talent as a skilled baritone singer.
