Florin Popescu

Florin Popescu is a retired Romanian canoe sprinter who had a successful career from the mid-1990s to 2005. He competed in two Summer Olympics, winning two medals at Sydney in 2000. Popescu achieved a total of seven world championship gold medals and seven European championship golds, establishing himself as Romania's most accomplished paddler in recent times. His career came to an end due to injury after winning his seventh world title in 2005. Popescu was also recognized as the Romanian Sportsman of the Year in 1993.
