Anișoara Cușmir-Stanciu

Anișoara Cușmir-Stanciu, a retired Romanian long jumper, had a successful athletic career. She won a gold medal at the 1984 Olympics and achieved second place at the 1982 European and 1983 world championships. Cușmir-Stanciu also set and broke the world record four times between 1982 and 1983. Following her retirement, she became a coach at CSA Steaua București. In May 2021, she was elected as the President of the Romanian Athletics Federation, where she continues to make significant contributions to the sport in a leadership capacity.
