Huayna Capac was the third Sapa Inca of Tawantinsuyu, the Inca Empire. He expanded the empire's borders significantly, extending south along the Chilean coast and north through what is now Ecuador and southern Colombia. He absorbed the Quito Confederation into his empire through strategic marriages and established key cities like Atuntaqui and Cochabamba. Huayna Capac was known for his advancements in agriculture, administration, and infrastructure, including the expansion of the Inca road system and construction of numerous storehouses. His reign ended with his death in 1527, leading to the Inca Civil War and ultimately the fall of Tawantinsuyu to Spanish conquests.
