Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui, also known as Pachacútec, was the ninth Sapa Inca of the Chiefdom of Cusco, credited with transforming it into the powerful Inca Empire. He oversaw the construction of Machu Picchu and led a period of conquest that expanded Inca dominion throughout western South America. Pachacuti implemented the Inti Raymi celebration and is associated with the rise of the Inti Sun Cult. Through strategic military campaigns, he conquered territories around Lake Titicaca, the Andes, Quito basin, and coastal regions, laying the foundation for Inca imperial expansion.
